In 2018 Sajecki Planning Inc. was retained by the Town of Oakville, in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary consultant team, to undertake a comprehensive study of the lands anchored by, and surrounding, Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. The Hospital District is envisioned to become a vibrant, mixed-use, and transit-oriented community centered on innovation, research, life sciences, and technology.

Sajecki Planning Inc. led the development of the Area Specific Plan. It supports the transformation of the Hospital District into a mid-rise employment-focused and mixed-use hub, inclusive of residential permissions. The Plan recommends a planning and development framework that addresses land uses, building heights, streets and blocks, urban design, and the public realm, in addition to policy and implementation direction.

The Hospital District’s mixed-use component is intended to strengthen its employment capacity as a driver of economic development in the Town of Oakville and beyond. The recommendations from the ASP have since been adopted as an Official Plan Amendment.
