POSITION
Urban Planner
Our practice is growing, and we seek an Urban Planner to join our dynamic and thoughtful team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Working under the direction of our Lead, Development Planning, the Urban Planner’s responsibilities will include:
· Preparing and coordinating planning applications and municipal planning documents, such as Planning Rationale Reports, Official Plan & Zoning By-law Amendments, Site Plan Applications, Draft Plans of Subdivisions and Minor Variances
· Undertaking preliminary site analyses and development research
· Preparing Highest and Best Use studies and Due Diligence reports
· Reviewing and summarizing planning legislation, regulations, and policies
· Supporting Project Leads with project coordination and management, including attending and preparing summaries of meetings with clients, municipal staff and consultants
· Preparing visually engaging documents, presentations, reports, and meeting materials
· Monitoring of municipal staff reports, council decisions and ongoing planning studies
· Supporting the preparation of proposals in response to RFQs and RFPs
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates considered for this position will have the following qualifications:
· Master’s degree in planning and a minimum of one (1) year of Ontario planning experience
· Excellent written and oral communication skills, including report-writing abilities
· Strong knowledge of and experience in applying planning policy and regulations in Ontario
· Full or candidate membership in OPPI or eligibility to become a member
· Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel)
· Basic skills in Adobe InDesign
The following qualifications will be considered an asset:
· Experience working on municipal development approvals within the Ontario context
· Skills in other Adobe Creative Suite software such as Photoshop and Illustrator
· Knowledge of and experience using GIS
· Valid driver’s license
